The Exponent Calculator computes the result of a base raised to a specific exponent using real-number arithmetic.

How to use the Exponent Calculator

  1. Enter the base number.
  2. Enter the exponent (the power to which the base is raised).
  3. Click "Calculate" to find the result.

Exponentiation

base^exponent

The calculator computes powers in the real-number domain. This calculator treats 0^0 as undefined/indeterminate for its real-number calculation contract and rejects it. Zero raised to a negative exponent is rejected because it requires division by zero.

Calculating 2^-3

Base2
Exponent-3
2^-3 = 1 / (2^3)
Result: 0.125

Notes

  • Calculations like 2^3 = 8, 9^0.5 = 3, (-2)^3 = -8, and (-2)^2 = 4 are all fully supported.
  • A negative base with a non-integer exponent is rejected because this tool operates strictly in the real-number mode and does not calculate complex-number powers.
  • If the calculation overflows to a non-finite result, the tool rejects it safely rather than displaying Infinity.
  • JavaScript floating-point arithmetic is used, so some non-integer results may be approximate.
